    Shady employer

    I have a client who can't get a W-2 from her employer. After some digging on my part, I find he does not have a withholding account in the state. He has shown withholding, SS and Med on pay stubs. Is there any way I can search to find if he even has an EIN? I have the business name and address. He actually registered in the state so I know that info is correct.

    I am preparing a substitute W-2, but can't get it to e-file without the EIN.
