I called the IRS yesterday about a tax return I just e-filed about 2 months ago as the 3rd party designee and I was told my PTIN is invalid. What, so I logged onto the IRS PTIN website and I am ACTIVE. Anyone else have this happen to them and if so, did you call someone to resolve this or was yours an isolated incident?
Called the PTIN office in IA and for you EA's that renewed, you need to notify the PTIN office. They had my EA expiring on 3/31/2013 and so I had them update to expire 3/31/2016. The PTIN website now tracks CPE for 2013. Actually pretty cool. Heck even the AZ Dept of Ins doesnt offer this.
