Optional Deprec for OIH-Does it benefit the client or the IRS?
IR-2013-5, Jan. 15, 2013 — There's a simplified option that many owners of home-based businesses and some home-based workers may use to figure their deductions for the business use of their homes.
Has anyone done the calculations to determine which option benefits the client more? Property tax and mortgage interest have to go on Sch A if you opt for the $1500 in lieu of depreciating the home...
What say you all?
