At the end of last May, I posted the following regarding the California FTB's "adjustment" taken to the federal above-the-line deduction for a portion of self-employment tax:
I just wanted to report the outcome. I only ended up with two clients with enough skin in the game to make an amendment even marginally worthwhile. Both of these have now received full refunds without comment. Apparently the FTB is prepared to take what it can get, but not make an issue of it if it is challenged. A funny way to run a railroad, IMHO.
