Some while back I started a thread and by the end I was convinced that it would be best to file a CA NR return for a client who moved out of state in 2011 but drew CA unemployment insurance after moving to NC. Everyone seemed to agree with me that no tax is due but as someone said if they don't file the State has no deadline after which it is too late to complain but if they file I think the State has twenty years to complain.
Now for the new question- is there any downside to filing an extension, and if so what is it? Also, can I file the extension electronically even though I (NC based EA) am not registered with CA and the Federal and NC have already been efiled?
