From IRS website
"If a taxpayer received an acknowledgment message that their e-filed tax return has been received, they can be assured that the IRS has the tax return even though "Where's My Refund" does not reflect that. Taxpayers should not call the IRS unless specifically directed by "Where's My Refund," as there is no new information to give them"

Obviously that is what many of us are finding out but does that mean that the direct deposit will be on time or not until we see the return in the "where is my refund"?

Jesse, does the software you use provide you with a print out for the"Direct Deposit - Bank Verification" ? My software does and I include that "page" along with my 8879 forms, and have the Taxpayer sign - to verify that the Bank, Routing # and Account # is correct.
If all of that is correct, and for some reason the deposit does not happen to get to the T/P account, then the T/P needs to check with their Bank - which is something you and I can not do on the T/P's behalf.
I only check on where's my refund as a courtesy for the approximate release and deposit date and provide that to the T/P. Most of the time - the T/P can't seem to find it on their bank statement, or when they are online at their Banking Statements. Then when I provid the "Where's My Refund" print out they go "DUH" it really is in my bank account, now I see it!

First you want to verify the account number they gave you. When you determine it was not your error you need to tell them that if they look at the return they will see that you input the account number they provided. Then you explain that you have no control over anything on the return once it is filed and accepted. They will have to take their issue directly to the IRS.I just checked the "Where's my refund" for a client and this is the message:
~~~~~~~~~~~
Your tax refund was deposited on February 6, 2012. Check with your bank or tax preparer if your refund has not been credited to your account.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
What am I suppose to tell them if it is not credited to their account?Leave a comment:

nothing on Where's My Refund?
I checked on 2 returns I did last week, one I did on Monday and one I did on Wednesday. Neither one of them shows up on Where's My Refund? yet.
I have acknowledgements from my software company so I know they were processed or should I say received by the IRS.
So we can see that IRS is really messed up this batch of returns good. Going to have some unhappy people. I did warn them that there might be delays. It is just that we don't find out that there will be delays till after these clients are gone. I don't have time to call them and warn them again that the refunds will be delayed.

Last year the expected refund if direct deposited was up to 15 days.I Ef'd a return with a large EIC on it. The software says it was accepted on federal and state. But when I go to the website to inquire, they indicate no record. The state of Minnesota shows the return received and a payment date indicated. Anybody else have an experience like this? What do you do about it?
The IRS has already notified us that they are a week behind. I wouldn't even start to ask when before the 15 days was up. Actually I include the websites and phone numbers on my invoice. Since I have no control over the return once it has been filed and the client has only one set of returns to deal with, I figure they can check on it quicker than I can.Leave a comment:

Had the exact opposite today- client said the refund hotline was down, so I was able to check IRS website for refund info- refund on Monday 13 Feb.

Would this glitch also apply to direct debits for amount owed? What happens if you specify a date and the return is not processed until after that date?Leave a comment:

I also had a call on a return that was accepted on the 3rd. They have already received their AZ return. I checked on "wheres my refund", and it showed no record. No EIC No Sch A, only 1099R and SS was all that was on the return
I was aware of the problem, and my client was very understanding.Leave a comment:

I had several calls yesterday - the online IRS site has no information, but if the client calls they will receive more information from the IRS. From client feedback the February 8 payments are set to deposit February 15.I Ef'd a return with a large EIC on it. The software says it was accepted on federal and state. But when I go to the website to inquire, they indicate no record. The state of Minnesota shows the return received and a payment date indicated. Anybody else have an experience like this? What a Mess!
This year seems to have been a Mess when it has come to the direct deposit of refunds. Early this season I learned my lesson I had so many people call me and say that their refunds were not in the account on the day I said. I guess they think that I control IRS. Well now I just tell them that the refunds are taking about 14 to 21 days and then if they come early I look like the hero right?
Everyone have a great weekend.

dkss, is that Feb 6 thru Feb10?
dkss, is that Feb 6 thru Feb 10th or only returns accepted Feb 6 & Feb 10th?The IRS is experiencing a delay in processing returns that were E-filed and accepted Monday, February 6–Friday, February 10, 2012. This means that any refunds associated with these returns will be delayed by up to one week.
The IRS expects to resolve this processing issue in the next several days. Since the affected returns have not been processed, the IRS will not be able to give an estimated date as to when the refund will be issued on “Where’s My Refund?” until sometime next week.Leave a comment:

I sent it in on the 7th and checked on the 10th with no answer. My software indicates it was accepted on the federal and state.Leave a comment:
