BB, I was poking around on FaceBook, saw the spilled Doritos, copied and pasted. Ta-da!

The red and green wires should not be joined. Ever. Trust me. Trust me. Trust me.

You might say I too have had a couple of slow days lately.

If it gets tooooo boring, you can always run down to the post office and mail a letter. Risky adventures always give me a rush -- it might work for you

Well, you can easily generate these:

or possibly just about anything from

    α to Ω

by using these codes and following the instructions:

She has atrocious records, brought 1/2 of what I need, BUT has paid $100,000 in personal credit card debt down to "only" $60,000. Is there a tax break for doing that, she asks? Wow. It's not even October 13.

Got you all riled up about how to reform this lady's record keeping and make her mend her ways. Ok, you know that there is no help for somebody just now bringing 2009 stuff, don't you, guys? Zero.

No, no, you have way alright, as much as anyone, BUT -- as Dennis once explained to me -- without voicetones it's sometimes hard to tell what way posts are meant. It was funny about her expecting to write off a big chunk of her personal debt paydown, and your mock gratitude that she didn't wait until the usual two days before deadline was right on the mark.

But I think many old hands here are no longer astonished by anything clients ourtrageously say or do (I once asked a "C" client {gave me expenses previously} for the business income; his dead serious reply: "You want that too?"). Several people got serious about that client because their default response is to sort it out, brush aside the junk, and begin damage control to the extent possible. If it isn't too painful -- if they're not crazy -- if they have cash -- and if they don't stink up the office too bad.....then such clients are frequently worth a shot.

I've got one of them too. Trying to finish 2008, even though he currently has backup withholding just because of being a late filer. I did get a $500 retainer up front though, so I'm not too bad off.

    Hopeless Clients

I guess my evangelical heritage makes me believe there are no hopeless clients. I have a couple that is trying to get together their paperwork for ten years' worth of returns and I believe they are going to get me their stuff. I have believed this since March and I still believe.........

Ditto. I printed it. Also found the info under FAQs -- Reading & Posting Messages -- see above toolbar. Along with a lot of other stuff I didn't know. (And some I don't get. I am such a greenhorn at this.)
