I should of been more clear, it's an ITIN Certifying Acceptance Agent. Basically, I facilitate and expedite processing of W-7 applications for clients to receive their ITIN to process their tax returns.
It's either the case where the individual taxpayer needs the ITIN to report income/pay taxes or they are claiming a dependent who needs an ITIN to be claimed.

To my knowledge, the only function a Certifying Acceptance Agent provides is similar to a Notary Public, whereby a CAA examines documents for approval by the Federal Government's Immigrant Naturalization Services to certify that a person is legal, has provided accurate application information to become a citizen, the application is complete, etc.
I'm sure there are other services - but don't know what they are.Leave a comment:

I am curious, what is a CAA?
How does it related to the tax preparation business and/or financial services in whole?Leave a comment:

So I just got approved and received my agreement and so forth as an ITIN Certifying Acceptance Agent... anybody out there also a CAA?
Let's exchange contact info for questions/advice, etc.
P.S. If anybody is on a BlackBerry, we can exchange BBM Pin's and form a BlackBerry BBM group.
