Format of Caf Number

I have two CAF numbers; one for my job and one for my biz and BOTH start with a zero! and end with an 'R'.

I called

the people who sent me the CAF and found out that mine does start with a Zero. I called the PPL last week or earlier for this and they were unable to tell me. They said they would mail it to me but they have so far failed to do so. Anyway I got my fax done, I got some personal tasks done, and I wrapped up a project involving 15 NC S Corp Amends and got them ready to present to the client tomorrow. All in all it was a pleasant and balanced day. I'd have more of these balanced days but I have middle and inner ear problems.....j/k.

My CAF starts with a zero also; 0306-xxxxxR

my first guess would to use a zero and see if it works.

But mine IS! Printed out nicely as 0300-nnnnnR

And I don't think it's because it's a very old number, although my P number begins with P0000nnnn

All kidding aside, I would call the practioner hot line and ask them.

I doubt first character is a zero, even a European zero.
CAF numbers are just that, numerical characters, so a leading zero doesn't
make sense.

I agree that either a Two or a Zero with a line through it to clarify that it is not an upper case "O" could be written in such a way as to resemble a Q to someone (me) who doesn't know that would be inappropriate in context.

I'm curious as to whether Lion's suggestion of going to E Services would work given that I do not have an E Services Account.

By the way the number was given to me in a fax. I have the telephone number of the office that sent the fax but not (I think) straight through to the desk of that person. I have decided that I really need to know and use my CAF Number so I am going to call the IRS for it early in my Monday. Should I go online to E Services, call E Services, or call the number of the official who sent it to me?

Or, a zero with a line through it that could look like a Q. If you go on E-Services and put in what you think is your CAF, if it fills in your information you were right. Call the E-Desk for help. I have 901-546-4176 as a number I used for CAF help one time. They gave me my number as XXXXXXXXX.

Probably your first digit is a 2. 2's and cap Q's have been confused before.

Does that sound like a caf number?
