    Senate's proposal

    Here is the Senate's version of the bill: They are using the word "Advance Refund????????

      No, but an advance of one's refund should not be called a "rebate", or at least the truth should be told if it is indeed going to be their own money given to them earlier than the 2009 filing of their taxes.

              senate's proposal

              The Senate Bill has such complicated rules for determining who is eligible and the amount
              of the tax rebate that few will be able to figure it out. Hopefully the government will
              be able to figure it out. They could have made it simple.

                Hopefully it will come with a new 20 page 437 line worksheet for the 2008 tax return where we can charge an added $1,200 fee for MFJ ($600 for single) for having to figure out how much of the pre-refund gets added back to the 2008 tax liability and how much of it is free money.
