    Management's Comments on Registration

We appreciate the opinions regarding whether registration should be required for participation on this free Message Board. It seems like an appropriate time for the management to express its opinion on the purpose and function of this forum.

Our goal is to provide a quality forum for discussion among tax professionals that is as open as possible while maintaining a certain degree of decorum. This requires a balance. This forum is not completely open. We do not allow spammers to post links to inappropriate websites. We do not allow personal attacks against participants. We will make judgments about whether we consider certain threads or comments to be suitable for viewing on our website, and we will delete comments and threads that we deem to be inappropriate.

However, there is a direct relationship between the level of freedom we allow on this Message Board and the breadth of opinions that will be expressed. We have made the decision to allow greater freedom of expression, even thought that approach will result in comments that may be found annoying by certain participants.

We sincerely appreciate those who express the desire to maintain a high level of quality of discussion in this forum. We know that quality is the goal of those who would like this board to require registration, or to be restricted to people who have purchased one or more of our products, or to be restricted to participants who have paid a fee specifically for use of the service. However, we will continue to keep this Message Board as open as possible.

We are proud of the quality of discussions that occur in this forum. We are pleasantly surprised that considering the level of freedom that is allowed on this Message Board, the incidence of inappropriate comments is extremely low. We attribute this to the integrity of those who frequent this forum.

We believe that the level of participation on this free Message Board is a testament to its value to tax professionals. We have a responsibility to do everything we can to maintain that value, including making this forum as accessible as possible to every tax professional who wishes to post a question or comment.

We will continue to allow unregistered participants to post questions or comments.
