    Yup, my vote is his tax home ("where you work") is CA. I'm sure those tax folks in CA will also see it that way!

      I am considering it. That's why I'm asking questions. Reading an IRS publication is one thing and getting feedback from those who've seen this situation is another. That's why I asked. My responses have been to clarify what others asked in their responses not to indicate my rigidity of mindset. I appreciate the help.
