    1. Can the Husband of a wife earning 31000 dollars draw SSI and file a joint return?

    2. Can he draw SSI if the wife who is earning 31500 dollars files MFS?

The husband is the one disabled, both are Green Card Holders with 2 nieces and a
Nephew as dependents. They live together. Dependents have Tax ID numbers so
    no credits.

Your input to this would be greatly appreciated. I have 7 years of Quickfinder 1040"s but
will not have The taxbook til December. Please no bright remarks, I know how simple
    this seems.

    Again Thanks

7 years of QFs didn't answer your question???

SSI has nothing to do with income taxes. Whether you file joint or separate has no affect on receiving SSI. The income limits apply to the household income. So unless you live apart, your spouse's income will count.

I suggest you read the booklet on the SSI web site at:

Thank You Bees Knees. I did read the referenced bulletin but you provided the
      answer with (household income).
