    RSU Vesting

Client said 800 shares of RSU were vested in 2015. Based on my understanding, RSU would be taxed at the time of vesting and the income would be shown on his 2015 Form W-2. But his W-2 does not show any RSU vesting income at all (nothing in box 14 of his 2015 W-2).

Also, usually a certain number of shares would be withheld by the company and sold for the taxes. But he has no statement or paper works which show that either.

If what he said is true and that 800 shares of RSU had really been vested in 2015, would it be possible that there was no tax consequence at all, which seems to be in this case?

Or have him contact his company department that handles these options. They can explain exactly what happened and whether any shares were sold for the taxes. They always send out paperwork to the employee at the time this is done.
