    Social Security Received

Client received a check for her 15 year old daughter. The check is made out to my client for her daughter. The amount of the check $23K. What do I do about this income.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Almost all children under age 18 have representative payees when receiving social security. It's not the name the checks are made out to that determines who's benefits they are. On the SSA-1099 who's SSN is present? Probably the daughters right?

If the daughter received a W-2 what would you do with that? SSA-1099 is exactly the same. If the daughter is required to file a return you include her social security benefits. Probably they're below the filing threshold and a return isn't required. That's usually the case when a dependent only has social security income.
