    How much mileage is deductible?

I have a taxpayer who has a combination of jobs; some are subcontract, some are W-2.... The 2 W-2 jobs earn him the most money - one is home-based, the other is 30 miles away. ALSO 30 miles away, in the same town as the W2 job is a subcontract job. When the TP goes 30 miles away, he first goes to the subcontract job, then the W2 job... on the same day. He has substantiation for all mileage. The out of town W2 job earns him slightly more than the subcontract job.
Using transportation rules, what would you allow him to deduct? Both ways from home, one way from home, or none at all. Thanks for your opinions!

Does he have a OIH (Office in Home)?

If yes then the self employed mileage is deductible on Sch C.

If he goes to his subcontract gig first and then from there goes to his second W2 job then on Sch A the mileage between these two locations is generally deductible.

Does he have a OIH (Office in Home)? Yes - OIH - and has been deducting on sch c

If the mileage is for his SE, then Sch C. If the mileage is for his employment, then Sch A/Form 2106. Have him add up the two categories from his mileage log.

          Just as Lion responded.

            My original question still stands...

Which pieces of his travel are deductible.... are you trying to say it all is - just broken between sch A and sch C?

the mileage from this W-2 job is only deductible if it is further away from his home than his IC job. You would take the round trip from IC job to W2 job for 2106 Sch A. If the W2 job is between his home and his IC job there would be no additional mileage.
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.

It can be tricky if the taxpayer makes multiple stops and has more than one job location.
