    SSI and Married Filing Joint

Client legally separated from his wife in 2014 wife qualified for SSI and began receiving it in November 2014, she was living with her friend and had no income resources, she could not qualify for disability so they gave her SSI instead. can my client file married filing joint and if so will that affect her SSI??

    Thank you

    Is he willing to cooperate?

I assume she is still married to the man she is legally separated from? Is he willing to file a joint return? If he is, then they could do a joint return.

I don't know if that would affect her SSI or not. I would think, that would be a question for the social security office.
