    W-2 for Household Employee

When you issued a W-2 and file Sch H to pay the taxes , where do you deduct the payroll amount and the payroll taxes you paid on the return?

If wages paid to a household employee are business related, the taxes and wages are deducted on the business return (Schedule C, Schedule F, etc.). If wages are paid to take care of the kids, the wages and taxes are counted as costs for purposes of the dependent care credit.

If the wages paid to a household employee are personal, such as house cleaning, mowing the lawn, etc. then niether the wages nor the taxes are deductible.

And if they were for medical or nursing care, they are deducted under medical expense, if they qualify.
