    FEIN prior to incorporating

Can client apply for a corp FEIN prior to incorporating? Parasec was hired to incorporate this client, and the process will take approx 7 days. Client would like to open the bank account now, but to do so requires a FEIN.

    FEIN before incorporating

I don't see how you can.

To complete the SS-4, you need to name the corporation as approved by the state that grants it as well as need the incorporation date.

There's no entity in existence until the corp charter is issued, so there's no way to get the Fed ID# until the corp comes into being. In some states you can get 24-hour turnaround by paying an extra fee.

But you can get a Fed ID# online in about 10 minutes, so you could monitor your Secretary of State web site (or call them) once the articles are filed and then obtain the Fed ID# the minute the charter is issued (without waiting for the paperwork to arrive back in the mail).
