    Required Education for License

MRI Technician is required to have a particular amount of hours of education to keep her license. This is not necessarily required by her employer but only to retain her license. Do these expenses have to be deducted on her schedule A or can she deduct as Lifetime Learning Credit?

You have to look at who is providing the courses. If it is through their professional organization on a cruise ship probably not. But if it is through a post secondary school that is eligible for federal student loans as a degree course class or adult education class then yes.

Does an IRS national seminars count as a Life Time Learning Credit type education?

A course that is taught as a part of the Master in Tax offered by a local college or university, that would count because of the type of institution offering the course.

The funds can only be used to claim a given credit, expense, or deduction. Once the funds are used for a credit or expense, it can not be used again to claim any other tax benefit. But any excess funds not used for a credit or expense can be used for a different credit or expense

It does in this area because it's coordinated thru Syracuse University. They send out a 1099-T to participants.
