    Payroll Service

Paychex seems to be the one I hear the most good things about. I have heard negative feedback on ADP and the Quickbooks payoll services. Hope this helps.

      P/R services

Have him check with his bank as some banks offer payroll services which they probable farm out to one of the majors like ADP or Americhex.
There may be a local firm in your area that does it, or if you are his taxpreparer or accountant you could prepare the checks.
The drawback with the P/R services is that the entire gross P/R plus the employers part of S/S-Med has to be paid before the service will issue the checks. This takes away any float and control of the money. Although, for some businesses it will keep them out of tax trouble.

        Payroll

Don't forget COSTCO, they have a very competitive payroll service, more so than alot of local bookkeepers. If your client wants to do it in-house, the best thing I've seen is www.paycycle.com. Low price, complete service with e-mail reminders of due dates and electronical filing of 941s, etc. Stay away from ADP, have had several bad experiences with them. Local banks seem to be expensive around here, just like their merchant accounts, way too expensive!
