New EA Exam process:

This is a link to Thompson's brochure on how the new process for the EA exam will be rolled. Included are registration requirements, carryover of scores from previous years, testing sites and dates, etc. Note that the fee is now based on the number of parts required to complete the exam and is $86 PER PART. I always thought the free market was supposed to be more efficient than the govt! Scores still won't be available until January if you take the exam during the first window (Oct - Dec 2006), so you still sit around waiting to find out how you did. But, at least you don't have just one day to take the exam, so it is a little less stressful. Unfortunately, I only need to take the partnership section (scored 103 in 2006, needed 105 to pass), but now have to take partnerships, corporations, sole proprieterships, exempt organizations all over again because they are all now part of one section. Oh well, cest levie, or whatever those crazy socialists on the other side of "the pond" say.

I have made plans to wait until the May 2007 test date. My reasons are several. For one starting after that date time you can see your test score right after the test. It pops up on the computer screen. I don't have to wonder if I passed or not. Also they will have continuous testing from May 07 to Feb 08. Which means if I don't past a test then I will just have to wait two weeks until I can take it again. Instead of couple of months.

I feel like these first two testing windows are just that... testing windows. It even says in the reading material that they will be including "experimental questions". That you won't be graded on them but they will be included. I think they are just getting their test perfected during these first two. So I am going to wait until hey get it right. I also hope that the study guides will be updated more to go along with the new tests.

I respect all of you who have taken it before this new format. Takes alot to be tested on 4 parts over two days.

        "Experimental questions"

I believe Prometric will ALWAYS include "experimental questions" in their exams. They provide the testing for Virginia insurance agents and have always included "experimental questions" in thoses tests and have been doing them for years. I think the purpose relates to the evolution of future exams, not to the newness of the program.

Note: Prometric also administers the CPA exams.

Yes they administer alot of exams from Microsoft Certification to the CPA exam as you stated. I understand what you mean about the experimental questions and I can see the purpose of including them now.

I still believe there is something about the two testing windows they are starting with. I guess it can be attributed to it being new and them working out all the bugs.
