    Son for exemption health care

Client has 3 dependents and a son who is 29. Does not work and has not health insurance. Not covered under parents. So did not file return but the mom and dad makes $170,000. When say NO insurance they loose $1500 on there refund. Take him off as an exemption, the only loose $480. Will he qualify for the exemption for the 8965 part III for the code A since he cannot afford his insurance. Will that work for the son so they can claim him or it is not possible for him to be exempt. Any thoughts

I had one of these. If he lives with them, then he is a member of the household and they would be eligible to claim him under the circumstances you describe. Even if they don't claim him, they still have to pay the penalty for him. So they might as well claim.
